Kara Swisher · 59:36
I would... And today, I shouldn't behave like that, but I was a kid. And so I was super rude. And and and my friend Renee Sanchez, who's now... Who was the editor of the Saint Paul or the Minneapolis paper and now is doing this amazing thing in Louisiana, He he and I were interns together, and he came at the post, and he came and got me and just laughed his ass off. I didn't have anyone else to call. You know? Anyway, that was it. That's fine. And I was arrested... Oh, I was arrested for making out in a public park as a lesbian. I'm not gonna go into that.
Scott Galloway · 1:00:05
Oh my god.
Kara Swisher · 1:00:06
I know. I fell asleep.
Scott Galloway · 1:00:08
Decent exposure.
Kara Swisher · 1:00:08
Tell me more. I was I was somewhat naked. Me more. I was somewhat naked in a public park and fell asleep at night making out with a girl. And they they they they let me off. Let's just say.
Scott Galloway · 1:00:18
It was that. Gotta say, I knew I was partners with you for a reason. I knew.
Kara Swisher · 1:00:25
I felt
Scott Galloway · 1:00:25
so I didn't think you could command any more respect for me. I was wrong. I was wrong.
Kara Swisher · 1:00:33
I forgot about that. That was bad.
Scott Galloway · 1:00:36
Oh, arrested?
Kara Swisher · 1:00:37
Yeah. Because I was making out with a girl, we were naked. Oh my god. That's awesome.
Scott Galloway · 1:00:44
That is odd. Hold the... You're my queen.
Kara Swisher · 1:01:05
Scary to be found out as a lesbian at the time. By the way, was International Lesbian Day on Wednesday, and I still haven't gotten my flowers from you. But that's okay. No problem.
Scott Galloway · 1:01:13
Well, that's because I take the day off to pray and listen to Melissa.
Kara Swisher · 1:01:16
Alright. You made me tell a story I really didn't wanna tell. Okay. We're gonna move on for a quick break. We'll be back. God. I know.
Scott Galloway · 1:01:22
I'll tell you new spin on
Kara Swisher · 1:01:23
the Caraval. I... You know what? When you come to DC, I'll show you where I was.
Scott Galloway · 1:01:26
That is that is literally the only reason I'm gonna watch your biopic just so I can see that scene.
Kara Swisher · 1:01:32
Anyway, what
Scott Galloway · 1:01:34
hot to play you.
Kara Swisher · 1:01:35
It was in my Honda Civic. I had a Honda Civic. It was... Oh god. Now I'm remembering a whole horrible thing.
Scott Galloway · 1:01:40
If this Civic's a rocking, don't come a knocking.
Kara Swisher · 1:01:43
Me just say, it's... I have to tell you, at the time, it was terrifying because everybody
Scott Galloway · 1:01:46
was positive.
Kara Swisher · 1:01:48
You know? Now today, I'd be like, yeah. I'm naked.
Scott Galloway · 1:01:50
Oh, so people didn't know?
Kara Swisher · 1:01:51
No. But it was bad to be gay. Like, people were not nice to gay. Police predicted.
Scott Galloway · 1:01:54
I've heard. Yeah. So you had to call Lucky and say, mom, I've got two things. I've got bad news, and I've got worse news.
Kara Swisher · 1:02:01
No. I... You think I'm gonna call Lucky. Lucky stopped parenting me when I was six years old.
Scott Galloway · 1:02:05
Who sprung you from jail, you little saucy minxie?
Kara Swisher · 1:02:08
No. I didn't go to jail for that when they let me out there. They... I talked my way out, but they gave me a, like, a summons and everything else. But Wow. They they didn't... The jail was the moped drug dealer. The crack dealer was the jailing. Okay. That's enough. Alright.
Scott Galloway · 1:02:22
For you.
Kara Swisher · 1:02:22
And now I'm turning red.
Scott Galloway · 1:02:23
I can't top that. I can't top that. Can I
Kara Swisher · 1:02:26
just tell you? Think it'd be you that would be indecently exposing things, but
Scott Galloway · 1:02:29
it's me. So.
Kara Swisher · 1:02:30
Yeah. Yeah. Alright. One more quick break. We'll be back for predictions.
[Ad break]
— Predictions segment begins —
Kara Swisher · 1:04:42
Okay, Scott. We're gonna use predictions slightly differently. You and I are gonna do guesses and see who's right on two predictions. Okay? So Nobel Peace Prize. We're recording this ahead of the Nobel Peace Prize announcement, which is tomorrow, I think, or today or later today. Trump has been so thirsty for this prize. The committee reportedly made their decision about this year's award on Monday. So before the Gaza deal was announced, I think Navalny's spouse is going to get the Nobel Prize and in his name, both of them. Right? I think he's gonna get it. I think it's gonna be she's gonna accept it on his behalf. That's what I think.
Scott Galloway · 1:05:15
I like that one. I'm not... I'm gonna go with other. I think it's been so politicized. I think they're gonna pick an organization like, I don't know, Sudan's emergency response rules.
Kara Swisher · 1:05:28
Top in polymarket. Yeah. That's the
Scott Galloway · 1:05:30
top one. I... Because I think this whole thing's been so politicized that I think they wanna avoid it, and they're gonna pick something that's gonna be hard to criticize that's not an individual.
Kara Swisher · 1:05:39
Oh, okay.
Scott Galloway · 1:05:39
Alright. Something like the International Criminal Court, the ICC.
Kara Swisher · 1:05:43
Yeah. Maybe.
Scott Galloway · 1:05:43
Because if I'm on the if I'm on the fucking committee, I just... There's... It's so charged. It's so ugly.
Kara Swisher · 1:05:49
The pope is doubling down on politics. I think they will. I think they... They're like, fuck this guy. That's Yeah. And if he does the Gaza thing next year, he can have it next year. If he does it and it sticks, he deserves it. Right? So
Scott Galloway · 1:06:02
You think Trump deserves it?
Kara Swisher · 1:06:04
If he ends the conflict in Ukraine and Gaza? Yes. Yes. I I can't stand him. But if he if he is the critical person
Scott Galloway · 1:06:12
Oh, I think you're giving him way too much credit. I think we'd had a better president, both of those conf... I think we would add a peacekeeping force already.
Kara Swisher · 1:06:18
I think Fair. Oh, then he caused the problem. Okay.
Scott Galloway · 1:06:20
Alright. I'm just saying. Tomahawk missiles destroying the oil infrastructure, and they would already come to the table.
Kara Swisher · 1:06:24
You're right.
[Ad break]
Scott Galloway · 1:06:25
You're right. But, you know, I'm biased.
Kara Swisher · 1:06:26
Alright. So you're going for the other, and I'm going for the Navalny?
Scott Galloway · 1:06:29
I'm going for a non person. I'm going for an organ... I'm betting on an organization as opposed to a person.
Kara Swisher · 1:06:35
Smart. That's smart too, but I'm gonna go for her because I Okay. Good. Think he's a hero. The second is the government shutdown, the length of the government shutdown. Odds are currently at 62% for shutdown going longer than twenty days. But if these flight delays get worse, by the way, I had one yesterday when I was taking some flights from the Midwest. Do you predict it will end sooner, or can people just hitch a ride on your plane, Scott?
Scott Galloway · 1:06:57
How many days in are we, Kara?
Kara Swisher · 1:06:59
I don't know. Like, a week and a half?
Scott Galloway · 1:07:00
Seven, eight. Days in.
Kara Swisher · 1:07:03
Eight, nine.
Scott Galloway · 1:07:04
I'll go I'll take... I don't know. It's the over the under. I'll go longer just because shit takes a while. I do think that they're gonna come... And by the way, I thought Caitlin Collins did a fantastic interview with representative Jordan. Yeah. I thought she was great.
Kara Swisher · 1:07:18
Killing it.
Scott Galloway · 1:07:19
She's getting back in his face.
Kara Swisher · 1:07:21
I wrote her a note about that question she asked about, Jolene Maxwell.
Scott Galloway · 1:07:25
Yeah. I thought I thought she was great with representative Jordan. I think that there... And, again, I'm in my filter bubble, so I see the stuff that the algorithms think I wanna see. I think the Republicans are going to come up with something that gives the Democrats the ability to say... To claim victory here.
Kara Swisher · 1:07:42
Because Marjorie Taylor Greene
Scott Galloway · 1:07:43
go up that crack. You wanna talk about a statement in our society? What does it mean when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the sane one in the Republican Party right now?
Kara Swisher · 1:07:52
Right.
Scott Galloway · 1:07:52
And she's also been very effective. She personalized it. She said, my kids... The premium for my kids is about to double.
Kara Swisher · 1:07:59
Yeah. I was like, who is this person who
Scott Galloway · 1:08:01
And to I've been I've been openly critical of Euler Jeffries and senate minority leader Schumer. They have been very smart going after health care. They have. Actually,
Kara Swisher · 1:08:11
you see him go after Lawler when LLR came and tried to, like, thirsty up the situation?
Scott Galloway · 1:08:17
Jefferson best social media post yet. You posted it.
Kara Swisher · 1:08:20
Yeah. That was Schumer. That was Schumer. Yeah. They... He's... He definitely looked old as dirt, but it actually was effective looking
Scott Galloway · 1:08:24
old as
Kara Swisher · 1:08:26
Yeah. But it worked. He he worked in his favor in that regard. Alright. So wait. You're picking what time? What
Scott Galloway · 1:08:30
what slightly younger than Tim Cook's father.
Kara Swisher · 1:08:34
Anyways. You're... I'm picking forty seven days just like those Trump people.
Scott Galloway · 1:08:38
Forty seven?
Kara Swisher · 1:08:39
Yeah. That's what they wanted to be the number of his presidency.
Scott Galloway · 1:08:42
If it's four... I'm not exaggerating. If it's forty seven, that'll ruin our pivot tour because I think you're gonna have a shutdown in the FAA or the air traffic controllers.
Kara Swisher · 1:08:52
Alright. Okay.
Scott Galloway · 1:08:52
Alright. Nashville Airport is pretty much almost closed.
— Predictions segment ends —
Kara Swisher · 1:08:55
It was actually... No. It wasn't. No. We... I got in. Yeah. You you know, I talked to all the TSA people. They were lovely. I have to say, shout out to the TSA people working yesterday.
Scott Galloway · 1:09:04
Did you get caught making out his pet?
Kara Swisher · 1:09:07
God. Oh my
Scott Galloway · 1:09:08
god. Love that.
Kara Swisher · 1:09:08
Time at TSA, I bought a set of handcuffs in New Orleans, and it was in my bag, and I didn't forgot I had bought them. Bought
Scott Galloway · 1:09:17
them for
Kara Swisher · 1:09:18
a friend. I I do not like handcuffs, but I bought them for a friend. I put them... Threw them in the bag because they have all that stuff in New Orleans, and someone pulled them out and just dangled them in front of me in front of everybody. That is... Oh god. Jesus. I'm a terrible person.
Scott Galloway · 1:09:32
You... Literally, you were arrested for sex and drugs. All we're missing is rock and roll here.
Kara Swisher · 1:09:36
No drugs. No drugs.
Scott Galloway · 1:09:38
Well, they they thought you were a drug dealer. Although, I gotta be honest, I don't think you look much like a drug dealer.
Kara Swisher · 1:09:43
I don't. He's probably racist state. That's... Anyway, whatever. I was in a jail. I was jailed.
Scott Galloway · 1:09:48
Actually, you're like the gut feeling that's selling or ketamine to all your sorority sisters.
Kara Swisher · 1:09:53
Yeah. I wouldn't do that. I'm just
Scott Galloway · 1:09:54
saying sexual favors in a park.
Kara Swisher · 1:09:56
You know, sending a lesbian to jail is not that scary for a lesbian, just so you know. Anyway, I saw orange is the new black. It looked kind of fun. Anyway, we wanna hear from you. Send us your questions about business tech or whatever's on your mind.
Scott Galloway · 1:10:09
Go coins and lesbian sex in parks. That's why they come here, Kara. That's why they come here.
Kara Swisher · 1:10:16
Okay. We wanna hear from you. Send us your questions about business tech or whatever's on your mind. Go to nymag.com/pivot to submit questions. Not CNN. Show.
Scott Galloway · 1:10:24
This is not CNN.
Kara Swisher · 1:10:27
Call 855 51 Elsewhere in the Kara and Scott universe. On... This week on Prophet Market, Scott spoke with Catherine and Edwards, economist and columnist for Bloomberg News. Let's listen to a clip. This was terrific interview, by the way.
Guest · 1:10:41
You can't function in a $30,000,000,000,000 economy with the data that you need to manage it if you are starving your statistical agencies for funds, which we've been doing for the past fifteen years. Firing the BLS commissioner, halting government data collection, we are pushing over the edge something that was already deeply problematic. So we can, you know, see this as a... Well, you know, we should have done the right thing twenty years ago, but doesn't matter when you get to the party as long as you brought a bottle of wine.
Kara Swisher · 1:11:09
That was great. That was really good.
Scott Galloway · 1:11:11
I'm coming back as an economist, a neighbor seal, or a Broadway dancer. Those are my three things. Maybe a chiropractor.
Kara Swisher · 1:11:16
You would be really good as an economist. And reminder, we're going on tour, as we said. We'll be going to Toronto, Boston, New York, DC, Chicago, San Francisco, and LA. Visit pivottour.com for tickets, which are going fast. Several cities are sold out. And please, please stay away from scalpers and third party sellers. Very quickly before we go, I wanna put a shout out to Marie, Samuels. She's a fifth grader who came up to me yesterday in an event I was at in Minneapolis, and she asked an amazing question about what we should do about kids and social media. Such a smart kid. She actually started a fourth grade newspaper late last year, and she's now in fifth grade. And it's... I... They sent me copies of it, and it's wonderful. Marie, you're gonna be an amazing journalist someday. I just wanna say that.
Scott Galloway · 1:12:00
That's nice.
Kara Swisher · 1:12:01
Okay. She was an astonishing amount of poise she had and a great question. Anyway, I really appreciate that. And and, again, keep going. You did... You're doing a great job so far. Okay.
